We have 4 males, from 2 yrs old up to 7 yrs old. When our youngest Rubio was 5 mo old he discovered that he could make his beard black. From that day forward he had on a black beard all the time his first year, then mostly in the spring the next year. They all wake up with black beards & go to bed with black beards.

In short, our beardie has stopped eating, doesn't seem to be sleeping well, and has lost an alarming amount of weight over the last 2 or 3 weeks (the sides of his tail and fat patches on top of his head have deflated almost completely, and his eyes are sunken). He also has a black beard at all times, but isn't puffing or glassdancing.A bearded dragon needs at a minimum a 50-gallon tank, but ideally this should be 75 or 110-gallons.
