68. PE. 9y. This thread is obviously filled with U Chicago alums. I have personally seen more Berkeley alums in IB than UC's, although Cal has obviously a larger student body. Because of Silicon Valley's proximity, tech is absolutely much bigger at Berkeley, with perhaps only Stanford and MIT having a bigger presence.UCBerkeley is notoriously difficult and competitive for premeds. Lots of grade deflation and everyone is a genius. Go where you will stand out, be happy, and not have to kill yourself to get good grades. A 3.8 at UCSD is way nicer than a 3.5 at Berkeley. I think you made a good choice. Ultimately, this is life; go where you will be happy.The grading is brutal at times and not uniform. One intro chem prof may be a total pushover while the other has 3 A’s in a 35 person class. The quality of education is great and the premed faculty to help you apply is phenomenal.
