Reef crystals are great for coral growth as they had more trace elements. If you're not doing coral, then straight Instant Ocean salt should be fine. The Reef Crystals would be a better choice, it has higher levels of magnesium, calcium, strontium, etc. Things that corals use to grow and survive.
