Sink plug jammed

The sink is a fairly large one and so had a larger type tap fitted but on doing an internet search most of what I’ve been finding in the size required appear to come with these click clacks wastes. I also read they can be a pain to free up if they get stuck so decided to find out on this forum what the general consensus is about them.
