In Project Zomboids, there are 6 categories of skills that can be leveled up as you progress through the game. Skills can be influenced by character creation if you choose certain traits. Upon death, all skills are lost. Some traits can be leveled up instantly by watching Life and Living on the TV and accelerated by reading skill books.

Best way to level it is to go to a multi storey building with a sledgehammer and varmint / hunting rifles (you dont wanna waste pistol or shotgun ammo on leveling).
