Thermostat r and rc jumper

My old thermostat has G, R, W & Y wires with a jumper between Rc & R. I purchased a Honeywell RTH9585WF Smart Color Thermostat. I moved the G wire to C on the new plate. My furnace has the corresponding wires but there is a black wire in C which was not available at the thermostat plate.
